Confessional Friday

Linking up with Leslie @ A Blonde Ambition

1.  We have absolutely nothing on the agenda for tomorrow and I couldn’t be happier. Can’t remember the last free Saturday that we have had.

2.  It is 11:00 and we are still in our PJs. I took today off and we are having a lazy morning. The girls love it. We are going to venture out in a little while. There’s a fundraiser/yard sale at a school I used to teach at, so I thought we would go visit and support the cause.

3.  I’m going to attempt a little DIY project this weekend…stay tuned for the outcome.

4.  Bought a new glue gun at Michael’s for DIY project and I’ve been having a little too much fun with it. Every bow that has come unglued in the past 6 months is now glued back securely, along with anything else I’ve seen that needs fixing. This may have something to do with how cute it is.
Who wouldn't want to get all crafty with this??

5.  I’m contemplating some big decisions right now and I alternate between excitement and stress. Leaning on lots of Bible verses and telling myself to listen to God and leave it to Him.

And that’s all I’ve got. Have a great weekend!

Hi, Remember Me????

My word, I am a terrible blogger! I'm just going to apologize once again and jump right back into life in the Putter household…

First of all, I should probably change the name of this blog to something else because I have not picked up a putter, pink or any color or any kind of golf club for that matter, in well over a year. Instant motherhood will do that to ya. But I’m too lazy, tired, overworked, busy to find a clever new name. And I’m still holding out hope that I might hit the links sometime in the near future.

Onto more important things, such as the state of our household…

School

School is over for the year and we certainly ended the year on a high note with the girls. Both report cards were great. They don’t get A’s, B’s, etc. in the primary program but both girls were at or above grade level in all areas. Big A ended the year almost a year above her grade level-a wonderful accomplishment since she started the year almost below grade level. So proud! She has decided that she wants to read Charlotte’s Web over the summer, so being the teacher that I am, I found a little book study for us to do as she reads. Little A ended her kindergarten year by reading at almost a second grade level. She is one sharp cookie! I’m also trying to keep her momentum up by having her read over the summer, but she is not nearly as interested in it as her sister is.

Both girls are also in “cheernastics”, which is a cheerleading/tumbling class. We had a showcase in April and both girls received a trophy. They were so proud of themselves!

Birthday

Big A had her birthday at the beginning of June and we had a party for her with lots of friends and family. It was a great day for her…I don’t think she’s ever had a birthday like the one she had this year. One of her presents from us was a new bike…I didn’t know until we started shopping for one that a lot of the bikes have gone back to the vintage look. Here is the one we gave her.

Isn’t it cute? It's hard to see in the picture but it is mint green with black damask print. I want one too!

Here is a picture of her cake and decorations. She loved everything and I had so much fun getting it all together.

Well, it wouldn’t be a post from me without a recipe, so here is one of my latest tries. Found this recipe on Pinterest (of course!) and I love anything that I can throw in the crock pot. It turned out so yummy!

Slow Cooker Pork Tenderloin

4lb pork tenderloin
10 pepperocini peppers
1 cup of teriyaki sauce
1 cup red wine
1 onion, chopped
6-8 red potatoes
1/2 cup lemon pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced

Place the potatoes on the bottom of the crock pot, place the tenderloin on top of potatoes. Pour teriyaki sauce and wine into crock pot. Sprinkle lemon pepper on tenderloin. Place peppers, onions, and garlic over and around tenderloin. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Outside of all this stuff, I am just enjoying my summer. I didn’t take the time to do that last year, so I’m hoping to be better about it this year. I’ve enjoyed cooking more and having leisurely dinners out on the deck in the beautiful weather. I’ve also got a couple of organizing and DIY projects lined up for the summer.

How is your summer going?
